Last November through January, the Stewardship Commission conducted a Matching Gift Campaign that resulted in approximately $18,850 of additional donations to the operating fund. As you heard in the Financial Report to the Parish last weekend, this income was sufficient to cover the cost of repairing the front steps of the Church. There were matching pledges by parishioners amounting to $7,000 which stimulated donations by other Parishioners of $11,850! The Campaign was a great success and a critical factor in our improved financial performance last year.
We are now starting a similar Matching Gift Campaign for this year. A generous Parishioner has already pledged $10,000 to start this Campaign. That money will be donated if an ADDITIONAL $10,000 is raised from other Parishioners. This donation was a great way to get the Campaign started.
Your contributions can be anonymous or attributed to you – it is completely your decision. To contribute to the fund to earn the Parishioner's $10,000 Matching Gift, please make a check out to "St. Thomas More Church" and write "Matching Gift" in the memo line. A letter indicating the deduction was tax exempt will be provided to all contributors who donate. ANY amount is welcomed and appreciated. You can make a matching donation or make an additional pledge to encourage others to match your amount. Some of you may be in a position to make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) to the Parish. A QCD is a non-taxable distribution made directly by the trustee of an IRA (other than a SEP or SIMPLE IRA) to an organization eligible to receive tax deductible contributions, such as STM. You must be at least age 70½ when a QCD distribution is made.
We will track the progress of this year’s Matching Gift Campaign, just was we did last year. Please participate if you can and help us earn the full pledged amount. If you have any questions, please contact the Parish Office or contact Ron Marnicio, Chairman of the Stewardship Commission at
THANK YOU!
