My Dear Parishioners:
We rarely go to Church casually, accidentally or just “passing through”. We go with a purpose. Saint Thomas More Church is holy ground; we walk in the footsteps of our ancestors. Saint Augustine’s felicitous phrase “roaming the spacious halls of memory” comes to mind as we recall significant milestones on our faith journey – Weddings, Baptisms, First Communions, and Funerals.
A church building is meant to enhance a community’s experience of mystery. “A simple and attractive beauty in everything that is placed in the Church will invite people to experience the mystery of God, for God is not only goodness and truth, God is beauty.” (Fr. Kevin Seasoltz, O.S.B.)
The Eucharist is at the center of the Catholic worshipping community and I am delighted so many of you share my enthusiasm for the projected renovations to our worship space. Your response to the town meeting presentations and your reaction to the photo of the rendering of the sanctuary, which is on display in the entrance of the Church, are most encouraging. Early gifts and pledges bode well for our efforts.
Reaching our goal will be a challenging stretch. Yet, neither the achievements of the past nor the dreams we have for the future would be possible without the generous support of all who love the Church of St. Thomas More.
Inspired by the example of those who have gone before us we are continually challenged to prepare for our future. Your prayers and financial support are indispensable as we join together to renew and beautify our Domus Dei.
With you in God’s grace,
Fr. Andrew W. Cryans
